Jeremiah Chiu's Winter Residency

Jeremiah Chiu’s Winter Residency, Music of (a new) Time, was focused on further cultivating the collaborations between himself and other solo artists that operate within a solo/collaborative, electronic/organic, and improvised/composed context. The participating artists—each part of the growing electronic, experimental, and contemporary music communities in LA and beyond—have shared the past two years working together as a group and in various pairings via virtual/remote environments. These performances offered them a space, as our venues and galleries were still reopening, to collaborate in real-time and present new music to a live audience for the first time in nearly two years. Music of (a new) Time makes reference to the Columbia Records’ Music of Our Time series, produced by David Behrman in the early 1960s. The influence of Music of Our Time can be seen by artists that participated in the Winter Residency as they extended similar compositional, conceptual, performatic, and collaborative approaches developed through the seminal series. ~~ Floating is a membership-supported outdoor arts series. If you're interested in seeing more gatherings like these, and beyond, we'd love for you to consider supporting our work with a seasonal membership.
